BCA, previously named BB Architecture, has been established in 2011 as the partnership between the firms of Sorin Birliga Architect (SBA) founded in 1993, and Eric Barker Architect, with Xavier Crespo as Associate Architect. Xavier replaced Eric as a partner in 2018.
The principals, Sorin Birliga and Xavier Crespo are registered architects with over 50 years of aggregate experience and operated in Victoria since 1988 and 2008, respectively.
BCA delivers complex projects of various types, with focus on residential, healthcare and educational facilities.

Sustainability and occupants’ health and wellness are high priorities in our practice. The members of our team are experienced LEED accredited professionals. SBA is consistently engaged in, and promotes sustainable design and construction practices even for projects that are not intended for LEED or other types of certification
We have consistently pursued our interest in healthcare architecture and delivered approximately 30 successful projects for the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA). Our work includes feasibility studies, additions, renovations and tenant improvements to provide new department spaces, treatment and procedures rooms, staff offices and food facilities.
Throughout our practice, delivered over 70 successful projects for the University of Victoria. Our work includes renovations of resident buildings and tenant improvements to provide space for large academic departments relocation, advanced classrooms, wet and dry labs, faculty and staff offices, food facilities, student residences and building envelope restorations.
Our residential project experience extends to all project sizes and types, from single family and townhouses to mid- size and large multi-family residential complexes.
